There are many makes and types of reeds to choose from for those of you who are new to this here are a few pointers.
For beginners you need a softer reed most start on a 1.5 although there are 1's if they are still to hard to play. The different makes do vary on strength so a Rico 1.5 is closer to a 1 in the Vandoren.
As you progress you can try harder reeds, this will give you better tone and control. There are also different reed cut's some more suited to classical and others jazz over time you can experiment with them all.
This new range from Rico
are designed for the most demanding player. Each reed is cut from the
lower part of the cane and then sealed in a humidity pack so the reed
reaches you in top condition.
